My Favorite Things...Right Now

The wait is over. Madame X is here! Released on 14 June, Madonna's 14th studio album is a creative masterpiece. Medellín and Crave were already established favourites of mine as soon as they were released. However, the album has so much to offer; it feels current and fresh and futuristic at the same time. Despite facing ongoing ageism and sexism, Madonna has stayed true to herself and her vision. After all, she has warned everyone more than once: "don't tell me to stop".
My favourite review of the album from Forbes magazine: "In a climatic build, this best-selling female artist pre-released five songs, one per week, giving listeners a taste of her global collection. In Madame X, Madonna offers a blueprint for multigenerational, multicultural artistry that keeps her music and visual expression fresh and relevant."
I first sampled these refreshing artisan ice pops on Governors Island. I opted for the watermelon mint flavour, but any one of the invigorating flavours would be a perfect choice on a hot summer's day: raspberry lime, strawberry rhubarb and lemon ginger. Look out for their "poptails" as well, a delicious combination of pops with various beverages, including black tea, lime seltzer and lemonade.
Speaking of sweet icy treats for the summer, Mika's single Ice Cream is the perfect summer anthem. It's an ode to a sweltering day on which only an ice cream can offer a reprieve. Mika told Rolling Stone: “‘Ice Cream’ was written on a day of extreme heat. It was the last few weeks of writing for the album; a writing period that lasted two years. Through the writing I had confronted personal, serious and at times painful issues, now I felt lighter and freer.” That certainly comes across in this awesome track, the first single from his upcoming album, My Name is Michael Holbrook.
Adam Lambert's reinvention is working for me. He debuted his sleek and glam look, complimented by longer locks, in the video for the catchy new classic rock single, New Eyes. He also performed the song on the American Idol finale, wearing a Gucci ensemble comprising velvet bell-bottoms and matching jacket that left everyone gagging. I can't wait to hear what the upcoming album has in store for us.
I had never been to Red Lobster (because lobster - gross) but was convinced to join colleagues for their famous "lobsteritas" (giant margaritas). Here I was introduced to the restaurant chain's delicious and complimentary cheddar biscuits. Luckily I don't have to visit the restaurant to enjoy these mouthwatering biscuits. A Red Lobster biscuit mix is available in supermarkets and it's super easy to make biscuits that taste just like the originals.
