Cupcakes from Baked and Wired
On a recent visit to Washington D.C., I was introduced to the amazing cupcakes at Baked and Wired, a popular coffee shop and bakery in the trendy suburb of Georgetown.  Having recently gone gluten free, I was excited to find a GF cupcake on their menu ("the chipper" - vanilla choc chip) and even more delighted that it was delicious.  The cake was moist and dense while the buttercream frosting was rich without being overly sweet.  Other interesting flavours including (among others) The great pumpkin (seasonal), carrot cake, chocolate doom, german chocolate, phat mint oreo, razmanian devil, red velvet and uniporn rainho (I have no idea what's in it but I was intrigued).

AHS 1984
I am really enjoying the ninth season of the AHS anthology, which takes place at a summer camp in 1984 and has been influenced by iconic slasher films.  The 1980s intro and soundtrack, the summer camp setting not to mention the camp feel of the whole show and the hilarious quips from Montana (played by Billie Lourd) have made it a highlight on my weekly TV viewing schedule.

The Politician
Another Ryan Murphy masterpiece that revolves around Payton Hobart (played by the brilliant Ben Platt) and his single-minded goal of becoming President of the United States, a goal which he believes begins with him becoming student body president of his high school and being accepted into Harvard.  The series also features Gwyneth Paltrow, who is superb as Payton's mother (and looks fabulous), and the always incredible Jessica Lange.  The very dark tone of the show is interspersed with witty dialogue and clever one-liners.

Lover by Taylor Swift
I know she has a lot of haters but I find it very hard to dislike T Swift.  Though I wasn't (and I'm still not) a big fan of the first single from her seventh studio album, ME!, the rest of the album is pop perfection.  I got the deluxe Target edition of the album which includes a poster and journal and a couple of bonus tracks.  My favourite song is  You Need To Calm Down, which also won Video of the Year at this year's VMAs, as well as Lover (I thought her stripped-down performance of the song on SNL was stunning), Cruel Summer, The Archer and False God.

King Arthur GF Fudge Brownie Mix
This is a great mix that tastes just like the "real" thing.  As a newcomer to the world of GF I am apprehensive about the taste and texture of GF products, especially cakes and cookies.  But this mix is rich and delicious and satisfies my sweet cravings.
